Deputy Principal's Message

Thank you to all parents, students and teachers who participated in the parent-student-teacher interviews over the last fortnight. We value working with you in close partnership, to ensure the best for your child and their education. Interviews at this time of year are a great way to build the connection between school and home and ensure we establish effective communication channels. It is also a great way for students to identify their strengths, interests and areas for improvement.
School Photos
Ben Venue's annual school photos will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 22 March and Wednesday 23 March. Students are asked to wear full school uniform on their designated photo day. Sibling photos can be taken on either day, during recess and lunch or between class sessions if required. Please see the timetable below for an outline of when your child's class will have their photo taken. This year, there will be no group photos. Single photos will be taken and used to create a composite photo for each class.
New draft 3-6 English and Mathematics Syllabus and K-10 Auslan Syllabus
The new draft year 3-6 syllabuses for English and Mathematics are currently in the consultation phase. A new Auslan Syllabus for students in K-10 has also recently been announced. All stakeholders are welcome to provide feedback on the draft syllabuses until 2 May. You can access the relevant syllabus documents and have your say here.
BVPS Student Representative Council
The elected SRC representatives and prefects met last Friday to engage in a range of team building activities. We analysed their collective interests and strengths, discussed what makes an effective leader and talked about how we can make the most of these skills and strengths to achieve our goals as an SRC.
Students had lots of fun sharing stories about what motivates them and what has helped to make them the people they are today. I can certainly say that the students had many inspiring ideas and it was exciting to speculate about what they will be able to achieve together for their fellow BVPS students.
