Harmony Day

Date - Monday 21st March

  • Students can wear a touch of orange to school.
  • Students will be completing an activity in class to celebrate Harmony Day.

What is Harmony Day? Harmony Day, which is observed each year on March 21, celebrates this diversity, aiming to foster inclusiveness, respect and the idea that people of all different cultures can make a valuable contribution to society. We are lucky enough at Great Ryrie Primary School to have many different cultures from around the world.

Why do our students wear orange on Harmony Day? Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Students can choose to wear something orange during Harmony Week to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
