Wellbeing & Engagement

Lunchtime Clubs are Back!

Teachers and aides will be supervising a number of exciting and fun clubs throughout the school at lunchtimes.  Lots of children are interested in creative activities and they particularly enjoy socialising and learning new things that are separate from the playground.

Our staff have lots of hidden talents and the lunchtime clubs offer the opportunity for the teachers and aides to work with different age groups and share their wonderful skills.

The activities running this term will include:

  • Construction Corner – students will be able to build using Lego, Mobilo and Meccano on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
  • Coding Club – students will engage in computer science and gain a practical understanding of basic coding
  • Games Club – students will play games such as Uno, Connect 4, Chess, Checkers and Guess Who.

The activities provide plenty of scope for acquiring new skills, often from like-minded fellow club members. Very importantly, they provide the opportunity for friendships to be made outside the usual circle.

More on Coding Club

This week a group of Year 3 and 4 students met up during the first half of lunch to

understand the basic functions of the coding program Scratch. The students used Scratch to change the animation of a crab. Everyone had a turn of creating something different and had a wonderful time. We are looking forward to meeting again next week!
