Year 10 Religious Education

Students have been studying the way in which the mass media expresses and influences personal and social values and ethics. Students have compared and distinguished the values implied in the media and those contained in the Gospels, whilst considering the role of the Church as moral teacher and guide. Students have explored the concepts of moral responsibility and moral integrity from a Christian perspective, including the “Christian Steps of Informed Conscience” as well as Kohlberg’s Theory of Moral Decision Making.

 

Over the next two weeks students will be demonstrating this understanding by choosing one moral dilemma and completing the five steps of Informed Conscience to evaluate the possible decisions and actions a Catholic might make. They will make reference to Christian ethical teachings and Kohlberg's Stages of Moral Development.
