The wait is over!

1:1 Chromebook Program

Finally, our very patient Year 3 students are lucky enough to receive their very own Chromebook at tonight's information  evening.

Our evening will be hosted by The Cyber Safety Project who our children met throughout the day.

Why are we moving in the direction of '1:1' devices?

We believe a 1:1 Chromebook program will promote better learning in and out of school by encouraging:

  • Greater access to real-time information and digital learning resources
  • Ease of access to class work both at school and at home
  • Independent, self-initiated learning (students can easily find answers to many of their own questions which also improves their own problem-solving skills in the process)
  • Differentiated learning to meet the needs of the student
  • Collaboration amongst learners and educators
  • Learning to come alive through the use of visuals, animations, video etc.

What is included?

Corpus Christi will arrange for an Acer, Lenovo or HP Chromebook, charger and carry bag to be allocated to each student in Year 3, and any students that have joined us this year in Year 4 - 6.

The Chromebook is available for the student’s exclusive use during school time and will be taken home each night and during term breaks to allow students to have access to their learning at home as well as to complete homework tasks, finish incomplete work and/or to extend learning.

Cyber Safety Project

Today we were lucky enough to finally have our visit from the fantastic Cyber Safety Project.

It was wonderful to see how engaged all the students were with our wonderful presenters Trent and Kiah.

I asked a few of our Year 5/6 students to tell me what they took from their session; this is what they had to say...

Dion:

'If one of our friends is being bullied online, we shouldn't be a 'bystander, we should be an upstander'

Vivian:

'There are many ways to help stop a problem we face online like..

  • report someone
  • block them
  • ignore their comment
  • tell an adult
  • call the Kids' Helpline'

Keagan:

'There is always someone  we can go to if we need help!

I know its important not to be a bystander, be an upstander by not letting comments pass by, and have someone's back if they need support.'
