Ya gotta ring that Brunswick Bell!

Swimming Carnival - and the House Competition begins!

Mohammed Idris

Sport Coordinator

The 2022 Swimming Carnival was staged at Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool,  a local venue that offers great facilities for competitors, and is comfortable for those who prefer to splash, socialise and cheer others along from the poolside

We enjoyed Goldilocks weather (not too hot and not too cold) so students could make the most of the competition and events that ran throughout the day's program.  Along with the standard swim competition, students were able to compete in the basketball tournament, enjoy a delicious sausage sizzle, dance to the great music and take part in the fashion parade! There were fabulous costumes worn by all who participated (teachers included!)

House spirit was evident - students and staff wore their colours with pride.  The friendly rivalry and rowdy cheering from poolside inspired the competitors - and the crowd  let them know how much they appreciated their efforts!

At the end of the day, Lan Se were the official victors - but judging by all the smiling faces and animated conversation on the way home, I think we all felt like winners!

Thank you to all that participated - and  a big shout out to the VCAL team who manned a delicious barbecue and the SRC who ran a drinks stand for students.

Everyone's contribution resulted in a most successful day.

I felt pretty good about my race - although I nearly choked on water near the end! I am pretty out of breath now,  but I'm happy that I got a new PB out of it!

I haven’t swum in ages – honestly, it was a miracle I didn’t drown out there!  But t was really fun - I love swimming!

I always have a good fast start to a swim,  but I slowed a lot toward the end [of the race]. But I did get first place!
