Ally Long

Graduate 2021

Completing VCE last year was an absolutely crazy ride. I would be lying if I said I found it easy or even manageable because it made finding motivation even more difficult than it normally is! However I am incredibly proud of how hard I worked and what I achieved last year. I truly believe that the teachers at BSC played a massive part in my success and I’m incredibly grateful to each one I ever interacted with, even if it was just a hello as I was walking to my next class.

During the prep for VCE exams, I auditioned for my dream university course for Musical Theatre at the Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University.  By the time you read this, I will have moved to Queensland!

People who know me at Brunswick know that musical theatre is my passion and this  course is the next step toward achieving the career I have wanted for as long as I can remember.

Alongside gaining a place at Griffith Uni, I was invited to perform at VCE Top Class, to showcase my self-devised drama solo that helped me achieve my Study Score of 50 in Drama last year. This is an incredible opportunity and I am so excited to represent Brunswick Secondary College next month at the Arts Centre.

Timothy Roach

Head of Learning - Performing Arts

From the moment Ally entered BSC,  she chose to be actively involved in Performing Arts at the college. Her dedication to her studies has only been rivalled by her passion for performance, and many will recognise her for her performances in Junior and  whole-school production over the past six years.

As a VCE student, Ally championed her strengths and continually challenged herself to do better, constantly striving for improvement.  Her ability to critique her own work, as well as her willingness to seek feedback from her teachers, ensured that she would achieve success in her studies, culminating in her VCE study score of 50 for her drama studies. Her work was always of an excellent quality, but that never stopped her from aiming higher and pushing herself further.

Added to her exemplary Work Practices, Ally has always approached her studies, cocurricular projects and student leadership responsibilities with enthusiasm and an infectious optimism. Through her time on the Performing Arts Committee and the Student Representative Council, she was a fantastic mentor to junior students, encouraging and supporting her peers and demonstrating unswerving pride in the school and its community.

Ally's invitation to perform at VCAA Top Class comes as no surprise, and we are just as confident that she will continue her success as she moves on to her tertiary studies in Musical Theatre.  Our best wishes go with her, and we look forward to hearing news of her in the future.
