Year 12 Physics Excursion at Luna Park
On Friday 11th March, our Year 12 Physics class, consisting of Mitch Kercheval and Louis Debast, attended the exclusive, annual Physics Activity Day at Luna Park. VicPhysics and Luna Park, St Kilda, have worked in collaboration to offer a small window of opportunity (only four days per year) in which Luna Park opens its ‘mouth’ to all Victorian students studying Unit 3 Physics to come together to ride and investigate the physics of fun park rides.
Mitch and Louis took full advantage of testing their tummies on all the ‘spinniest, droppiest, twirliest’ rides they could, taking measurements as they went. The focus of the day was to give Physics students the opportunity to feel the forces that act on their bodies to make rides exhilarating, whether it be the sensation of ‘zero gravity’ or ‘g-forces’ greater than what they are used to. They studied different types of motion, such as circular motion, as well as investigating the transformation of energy when dropping from a height. It was a great opportunity to observe, and interact with other Physics students from around the state.
It was a terrific day and a great way to enjoy the Physics we are studying.
Year 7 Art
Our students in 7A have been creating mono prints in Art with Ms McGregor. In mono printing, ink is applied to a textured artwork and results in one-of-a-kind prints. These can then be combined with other art mediums, such as collage.
7A's mono prints are based on their studies of Ancient Egyptian Art and artworks based around the Sycamore tree, or the "Tree of Life." After our students used ink to print their mono prints, they have added collaging to represent the birds in the trees.

Support our Hands on Learning Program Through Grill'd Local Matters
As the end of March draws nearer, we remind everyone to please head down to the Grill'd Restaurant in Ballarat to support our Hands on Learning Program.
The Grill'd Local Matters initiative that provides support to groups, organisations and causes that serve their local communities, has been supporting our Hands on Learning program at Beaufort Secondary College this March.
In order for the Hands On Learning program to receive a donation of $300, we need to receive the most bottle cap tokens at Grill'd Ballarat by 31st March. The $300 donation will be used towards resources, equipment and materials for our Hands on Learning students.
We look forward to communicating the results of Grill'd Local Matters in the next newsletter!
