Across the Principal's Desk

By Karl Schier

Our School Council Election process has been completed for 2022-23. Congratulations to new and re-elected members – their contribution to the governance of our school is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank retiring members for their input and support in fulfilling their important role on School Council. Ashley McErvale has been a long-standing member on both of the Beaufort Primary and Secondary School Councils and has seen his children complete their education from Prep to Year 12 in our local schools. We really appreciate his commitment and valuable contribution over the years.

Our first meeting for the Beaufort Secondary College 2022-23 School Council will commence at 6.00pm on Wednesday March 30th. During the first 30 minutes of this meeting we will present the 2021 Annual Report in a public meeting format, which members of the Beaufort Secondary College community are welcome to attend. We will have a short break in proceedings and move into the first meeting of the 2022-23 School Council, which will involve electing Office Bearers. Once again, congratulations and thanks to our new and existing School Council members.

Athletics Carnival

Our Athletics Carnival was a recent highlight for Beaufort Secondary College. There was a terrific atmosphere on the day with a lot of encouragement from students and staff for those who were participating in events. It was a pleasure to watch our students doing their best with some outstanding results, including long-standing records being broken. Ella Kerr was certainly impressive to watch as she made her way around or down the track in running events with sensational technique and time. She went on to compete and perform well in State Finals last weekend. Whilst it was fantastic to watch those who are very comfortable with athletics, it was also wonderful to see those who were less comfortable having a go and being supported by their peers. A great day all round! Thanks very much to Mr Tatchell for organising and running the day in a smooth and enjoyable fashion – it’s a big job! Thanks also to all staff for their various roles in making it all happen, as well as House Captains for their important job with filling events on time. Thanks also to all students for their participation and to parents, friends and grandparents for their support. Congratulations to all Age Champions for achieving excellence – the names and photos of those students are published in this Newsletter.
