Principal's message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Dare I say it's starting to feel a bit normal. It has been brilliant watching our students get back into the routines and structures of school, which they are doing really well. Hopefully, we can continue down this path for the rest of the year.
Covid cases continue to be small in number, and that by no means detracts from our concerns for the families that are affected. We sincerely hope numbers continue to decline, and further normality is upon us sooner rather than later.
As communicated last week, the Government has extended student testing using the RAT kits until the end of Term 1. So once again, we thank you for your support in this area; whether it has been notifying us of your child's condition, picking up a sick child or collecting the RAT kits on every occasion, it has been brilliant.
We have started to have students participate in extracurricular activities like lawn bowls, swimming sports and tennis. On all occasions, the students have been so excited and enjoyed themselves immensely, which is the aim of the game.
We have had a terrific response to our Colour Fun Run. It has been great to once again be involved in an activity that brings the community back into school; it certainly has been a long two years. The entire school is excited about the day and I know the students are doing their best to promote it at home. On a cautionary note, please ensure your children are not knocking on doors asking for cash. All donations are to be made online. A huge thank you goes out to the Warrnambool Primary Parents Association for getting the event up and running.
The Naplan Assessments will look slightly different for our students this year as all assessments will be completed online, except for writing. We're currently working through the technical issues to ensure they run smoothly. At every assembly, I mention two things to all our students. First, be kind and nice and secondly try your personal best at everything you do. This is the exact approach we want all our students to take into Naplan, have a go and give it your personal best. In next week's newsletter, I will share a link to a demonstration site that parents can go through with their children and look at what the online tests will look like.
Have a great week, everyone.
