From the Director of Students

Dear College community,

As we continue to live, work and learn in remote and isolated settings, we are reminded every day of the importance of keeping positive while maintaining a strong mindset and upholding good mental health.

While students navigate through online learning daily, it has become very clear that the lack of physical interaction with others is an ongoing concern.

Beyond Blue have just released episode one of their very first podcast series - Not Alone.

When it comes to mental health, we all have our own unique stories to tell. But no matter what we are going through, there are other people experiencing it too.

The series will consist of six episodes, each one based on a popular discussion topic from our online forums, which attract over a million visitors each year. The feature of each episode is an interview between the host, Marc Fennell, and one of the amazing Beyond Blue speakers who has a connection with that topic.

This series is all about personal stories. Authentic, engaging and powerful in their ability to inspire hope. These relatable stories can help reduce the stigma that stops so many people from seeking support.

Episode one is on overcoming trauma and is now live on all platforms. You can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts - Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts  as well as the dedicated podcast pages on the Beyond Blue website.

Beyond Blue will be releasing episode each week over the course of the next six weeks. The five other episode topics are:

  • Supporting a loved one with a mental health condition
  • Work stress
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Finding purpose
  • Dealing with an inner critic

Students return to school preparation:

In the anticipation of students returning to the College in the near future, we have been looking at a number of supportive hygiene expectations, that will not only keep students safe but will certainly assist all staff as well.

In Week 2 our Senior students were given the opportunity to develop a quick 3-minute clip regarding Hygiene protocols at St Greg’s. Students only had 30 mins to compose the clip. Once the challenge was set, the boys produced a clip that will help all our College community understand the importance of physical distancing, healthy hygiene practices and keeping a lookout for others. The acronym ST GREG’S was adopted to acknowledge 6 very simple but extremely important hygiene practices.

Finally, can I ask that all students  prepare themselves for returning to school. The College has very high expectations when it comes to student uniform and grooming standards.

Please take time to make sure students comply and respect the haircut and uniform policy below before returning to school.

Kindest regards,

Mr Baldino Vetrano

Director of Students
