Secondary 7/8

Welcome

We hope all families had a wonderful break. Students have shared many stories about their holidays! We look forward to a productive and sunny Term 4. A friendly reminder to students to bring their hats to school. It is policy that students wear hats in Terms 1 and 4.

This term we welcome two new students to our section; Christina in SFC and Daniel in SMC. We hope they continue to make new friends and enjoy this term at Concord.

Secondary 7/8 teachers would like to remind families that we have many readers available to the students to take home. Please encourage your child to bring these home and practice reading with a parent/carer, brother/sister, grandparent, etc. If your child is unsure of how to take a reader home please communicate this in their communication dairy and the teachers/ES will support your child in this process.

Holidays

SSD seemed to get up to quite a lot on their holidays. Will went to the Melbourne Show in the city, Tre went paintballing, Ahmed rode his bike, Blayze celebrated her birthday, Hanae went to a drive-in movie and Daniel went to Hawaii! We are all happy to start term 4 and looking forward to the better weather!

SKH students spent time socialising with friends and family. Some students caught up with each other to see the film ‘It’ others went to the new cinema in South Morang to see ‘Johnny English Strikes Again’. Visits to the Melbourne Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary were also popular along with a holiday to Echuca. Unfortunately there was one student with an ear infection. A lot of the boys visited the hairdresser and are looking good with their new haircuts.

SEO were excited to share with the class what things they got up to during the break. Students relaxed and played games at home and went to the movies with their families and friends. A highlight for a few people was going to WWE showdown at the MCG. Seeing all the wrestlers was amazing, there was 70,000+ spectators that attended. Another highlight was watching West Coast Eagles win the AFL Premiership. It was an exciting game of footy. We are all happy to see everyone back and ready for the last term of the year.

SSO students had an exciting break. Athas went to the Melbourne show. His favourite ride was the cliff hanger. Arsham and some other students went to the WWE. They said it was great. There was a huge crowd of 70,000 people at the MCG. Athas’s favourite wrestlers were the Undertaker and Triple H.

SCO have had a wonderful break. It sounds like they have all had a fantastic holiday, which included trips to the Royal Melbourne Show, seeing movies and some lucky enough to get away for a few days. The students have come back to school fresh and ready to finish off the year.

Going to the movies was a popular holiday activity and ‘Smallfoot’ seemed to be a favourite during the holidays for SFC. A few students spent some nights at their grandparents for sleepovers. Haircuts, playing at each other’s houses and a new pink iPad where in the exciting holiday recounts. SFC shared many things about their holidays and are all happy to be back at school with their friends and teachers.

In SAS, Mahdi went to Funfields with his family. He went on lots of rides and a really big water slide. He liked going on the go karts. Blake went to Echuca with his family. He rented out a little boat and went fishing in the river. They didn’t catch anything but had a really good time. His family went out for dinner at a Chinese restaurant that was really nice. Later on in the holidays he went to a trout farm and caught fish. All the students in SAS had a great break.

Over the break the 3 hot ticket items for SMC were:

*Watching Collingwood narrowly lose to West Coast Eagles in the AFL Grand Final.

*Going to the cinema to see the a range of different films such as Smallfoot, Venom and Johnny English.

*Going to the Royal Melbourne Show to see cool animals, go on rides and buy showbags.

Mark thinks you are a great leader in class. Why does he think this? Because I help out other students with their writing. I also use good manners. I demonstrate good listening and I do my work when he tells me to.

If you could pick your favourite subject at school, what would it be and why? Writing! I actually like writing and I have practised getting my writing neat and a lot smaller than it used to be.

What is your favourite thing to do outside of school? I sometimes go and see my friend Sierra do dancing. I also look after my baby sister who was just born.
