Further Learning

INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

At Black Rock we will continue to use the iPad program in Year 6. Our iPad program creates an engaging, 21st century learning environment.

Students will:

- Safely and effectively manage an online identity through collaborative and closed learning spaces.

- Use available digital solutions to develop skills and to demonstrate existing and new knowledge.

- Use ICT tools to create, produce and communicate.

We strongly recommend that students and parents are actively involved in discussions surrounding cyber safety and the appropriate use of digital technology. For cyber safety information and tips, please  see the school's website.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Three hours of physical activity per week is a Department of Education  requirement. This involves PE lessons, Interschool sports competition and training, plus participation in fitness, circuit training and other fitness based games.

FRIENDLY SCHOOLS

Friendly Schools is an anti-bullying initiative for schools developed through extensive research with Australian children and adolescents. This program aims to increase understanding and awareness of bullying; improve communication, and adaptive responses to bullying; encourage peer and adult support for students who are bullied; and promote peer and adult discouragement of bullying behaviour. Friendly Schools also addresses research suggesting that the development of qualities like resilience, positive self-esteem, empathy, social skills, self-management skills, decision-making skills and conflict resolution can help to protect students from the harmful effects of bullying.
