Attendance

Going to school on time every day is the single most important part of your child’s education. Children learn new things at school every day – missing school puts them behind.

 

In the event that your child needs to be away, please take note of the following instructions outlining how to notify the school of their absence.

Full Day Absence:

Absences MUST be reported via Compass on the day of absence (early in the morning or ahead of time where possible).

 

A key feature of the Compass App is that it allows parents to quickly and conveniently notify the school of your child’s absence. Notification via the app (or browser version of Compass) will automatically update the class roll and provide a  documented explanation of your child’s absence and is the school’s preferred method.

Parent approvals for absences can be entered using the app for any time period up to 28 days long and can be entered ahead of time or retrospectively – Where possible, approvals should be entered prior to the absence occurring.

 

There is no need to change the default times of 8am – 5pm when reporting full-day absences.

A record of absences can be viewed in the browser version of Compass by clicking the ‘Profile (Attendance, Schedule, Reports)’ link on the home page and selecting the ‘Attendance’ tab.

Late Arrivals/Early Departures

Students arriving to school after 9.00am or leaving during school hours MUST be signed in/out by a parent/guardian via the Compass Kiosk at the Office. 

 

Students are required to collect a 'Late Pass' upon sign in, then hand directly to their teacher upon arrival at class. 

 

Early leaver's passes can be collected by parents when signing students out at the office, then handed to the teacher when collecting your from the teacher prior to 3.30pm.

 

Please use Compass to let us know if your child will be arriving late (this does NOT replace the requirement to sign your child in via the Kiosk).

 

If you do not enter an approval note advising us that your child will be late and your child arrives at school after 10:00am, you will receive an SMS Notification: "Student Unaccounted For".

 

 

If the you are unable to update the explanation contact us as soon as possible by calling 9598 2293 to let us know where your child is. If we cannot reach you because we don’t have your correct contact details (i.e.: message notification fail, disconnected number), then we will make contact with any emergency contact/s nominated on your child’s file held by the school, where possible, on the same day of the unexplained absence.

 

Please remember it is your responsibility to contact us to provide an explanation for your child's absence from school, and where possible, please inform us in advance of upcoming absences.
