Year Six 2020

Dear Parents, 

We are sure your child’s last year at Black Rock Primary School will be a memorable and successful one, and we look forward to working closely with you to support your child throughout the year. 

A big part of this year will be providing each of your children with the opportunity to expand their leadership skills. Each of the students applied for a leadership role within the school based on their interests. The leadership roles offered this year are:

- School Captains and Vice Captains

- House Captains

- Student Voice and Agency

- Performing Arts Captains

- Art Captains

- Library Captains

- STEM Captains

- Peer Activity Leaders

- Media Captains

- LOTE Captains

- Office and Admin Captains

- Buddy Captains

- Wellbeing Captains

-PE Captains

-Green Team

 

We look forward to assisting each of the students in fulfilling their roles and developing their leadership skills this year.

 

The following information will provide you with an overview of the Year Six curriculum that will be taught in the classroom and the ways in which it is delivered.

 

Reminders

Hats are to be worn when outside from September through to April.

Interschool Sport will run throughout Terms One & Two. Students are asked to arrive at school at 8.20am unless otherwise indicated.

Parent helpers are required for majority of sports this term so please talk to your child's sporting coach or classroom teacher if you can help out.

Please check COMPASS regularly for any reminders.

All Canberra Camp notices should be returned to your child's by Friday March 6th. 

 

Communication

At BRPS we foster a strong home school relationship. 

There are two interview days scheduled for the year. The first one will be taking place March 3rd. The second interview day will be held in Term Three, after you have received your child’s Semester One Report.

To report a student absence please notify the school via COMPASS app or desktop. 

For urgent issues requiring immediate action please call the school on 95982293.

To discuss a student's academic progress, health or well being please email your child's teacher using COMPASS browser.  Please refer to COMPASS emailing teachers document. 

School staff will try to respond to general inquiries as soon as possible and we request that you allow 2-3 working days. 

Please note that staff may not read, respond or action emails outside regular working hours.
