Senior Unit
Year 6 Soccer
Girls: The girls had a great day. The girls played off against 6 teams drawing 3, winning 2 and losing 1. Unfortunately we missed out on the grand final by 1 point. But we went to the boys and started our own Woodend cheer squad.
Boys: The boys did really really well. The first game we played was against St Marys. We won all of our games apart from two games which we drew. We made it into the grand final against Candlebark. It was 1 to 1 but then Candlebark scored a goal it was the final countdown and the ball was right next to the goals the goalie.

Gisborne SC Experience Day
On Friday the 24 of May, the Year 5 and 6’s who didn’t go to soccer went to Gisborne SC. We were all separated into groups. The Year 6s did science and PE and the Year 5s did art and drama. In art, the Year 5s drew a face with oil pastel with hot and cold colours. They also learnt how to blend colours together. In drama, they got into groups and used their bodies to make musical objects and then they chose a room in a house and acted out the object in the room they chose.
In PE, the Year 6’s did a fitness test. There were 7 different test we had to do; there was the 5 minute shuttle, flexibility, agility, 20 metre sprint, stages and the jump test. It was very tiring and we were all very tired at the end. In science we learned about how fast viruses can spread. The teacher put something in the little glass cups. then we all pored the liquid into someone else's cup and then they poured half back into our cup. The teacher came around and put a chemical in out glass cup to see if we had the flu. We all had a great day and all really enjoyed it

Earn & Learn Update
Money - Our notes have finally been chosen. We have a $5 note, $20, $50, $100 and $1000 notes. We also have fines we have to pay as well as tax. You can get bonuses if you do good things in the classroom and outside of the classroom. You have to pay for public transport if you don't have a car. You can buy houses from the real estate and then put it down on a table and whoever lands on that spot each week has to pay you the rent. Our earn and learn semester is basically replicating the real world into our classroom.
United States of Chamerski
This week in United States of Chamerski. We started our second town meeting with a huge controversy on ‘Pay Rises’. The opposition leaders were asking for a bit more money along with the historian. The Prime Minister and Deputy came to an agreement “no pay rises until four weeks so we can see how well you work” they exclaimed. We also got our first pay day, with a few people getting a little bit more for their excellent work on their money and flag designing. Thomas won with his outstanding flag and Tayia with her amazing money.
New Happap City
In the awesome town of New Harrap City we have been getting up to a lot. So far we have voted for our PM and Deputy as well as our Opposition representatives. We have also created our own flags and then voted for which one we wanted to represent our country. We applied for a job in our city and Miss Harrap chose who was put into each job.
As a class, we decided the fines and bonuses. An example of a fine is not charging netbooks. An example of a bonus is having a tidy desk. We also looked at our payslips.
At the moment we are coming up with a National Anthem.
It’s really great we are doing this as its teaching us how to manage money.

New Harrap City National Flag - designed by Isabelle. The arrows symbolise teamwork and the leaves symbolise the environment.
Angles
This week in su1 we have been learning a lot about angles one of our activities was working with our table partner to complete a sheet of angles and we had to get every single angle from acute to revolution. Below is an example of the sheets we had to complete. We have also learnt about the degrees in angles and how to create an online video using a website called Line Rider which challenged a lot of students to their ability of angles.
Parent Career Talks
Yesterday on the 29th of May SU2 and SU3 had some parents come and visit them to talk about their jobs as part of Earn and Learn.
We had Mat come and talk to SU3 about his job with computers, how he uses coding and works with robots. He told us he works in three companies and loves his job.
SU2 and SU3 then had Emma and Robyn talk about their jobs.
Robyn is a nurse in the emergency department. She first worked in the Royal Melbourne Hospital, then she worked in a private hospital and works one day a week now. She also works as a driving instructor.
Emma is a screenwriter which means she writes scripts for TV shows and movies. She wrote the script for Neighbours and many more. She has been on set for Wentworth and met many actors.
We had lots of fun learning about different jobs and were very grateful for them coming!!
