Team Leader's Message

Team Leader’s Message

Welcome back to Term 3.  It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through the year.  We have an exciting term ahead with our two Presentation Balls being held in just a matter of weeks.  Rehearsals are in full swing each Monday and the students are looking fabulous. All of our young men have been to a suit fitting and the young ladies are having final fittings in their dresses over the next couple of weeks.  Many thanks to Chris Varalla for her sewing skills in altering the dresses.

Year 12 students and families are also busy deciding on and applying for placements for 2019, working closely with Rhiannon Campbell, our Post-School Transition Officer.  This can be a difficult time for students and families, with anxiety arising from the changes relating to transition.  In conjunction with our school counsellors we are developing some additional programs to support the students to prepare for transition.

Christmas in July

Last week I attended a very special Christmas in July event held at Peter Lalor Vocational College.  Concord School has 13 students undertaking Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, working in a class with students from mainstream schools in our region. The class has worked towards this event throughout the first semester and worked with the Certificate II in Event Management students to host this lunch for family members and school staff.  Catering for 25 people is a difficult job but these students made it look easy, remaining calm and confident in their allocated jobs.  A delicious three course meal was served and everyone was impressed by the team of students.
