VET Work Placement Opportunities

Shout out to parents/carers and Old Boys that own a business or work for a business that is willing to provide work placement opportunities for our students in 2023 in the areas of Construction, Hospitality, Information Technology and Entertainment.

The number of students undertaking VET subjects in 2023 will increase quite significantly. A mandatory requirement when completing VET subjects is that students undertake 70 hours of work placement across Years 11 and 12. This will entail students completing one week (35 hours) with one employer and the second week (a further 35 hours) with another employer.

We have a provider that sources work placement for our College however there are not enough work placement opportunities available and so our students have to source their own. Also, many of these work placements require students to travel long distances. Students that have been on work placement with businesses in the St Patrick’s College community have reported back with very positive experiences.

I am therefore reaching out to any parents/carers and Old Boys that own a business or work for a business in either the Construction, Hospitality, Information Technology or Entertainment Industry, that are willing to provide work placement opportunities for our Year 11 and Year 12 students. This may be just a couple of times a year or more regularly if you are willing and able. We would like to have a pool of host employers that we can call upon when required.

In return, you will be assisting a student at the College to develop in the vocation they have chosen. They will also be assisting you with your business.

If you are willing and able to provide this support, can you please email me at joanne.cupac@spc.nsw.edu.au
