Sports Report

Welcome back to the final term of the year and what should be another busy one for college sport. We have our usual summer sports of rowing, cricket, tennis and netball beginning this week and a new season of basketball starting next week. Opportunities to represent the school in Glenelg Division cricket, tennis and golf will be on offer this term as well as two more House sport afternoons and of course our famous ‘Old Fashioned Sports” to finish on the last day of the school year.

ICCES Summer Tour

Unfortunately the ICCES SUMMER TOUR event on Friday has been called off due to poor weather forecast in Ballarat for rest of the week.

It was hoped that the indoor sports may still go ahead but due to some schools travelling long distances and having to cancel accommodation and associated costs with transport and less numbers it was not feasible to just go ahead with these.

Whilst this is disappointing for the students involved there will be other chances to represent the school in cricket and tennis during the term. More information from Heads of those sports will be passed on in due course.

Winter Sports Awards

Our assembly this week saw some of our most talented and committed students in all of the winter sports (and some that cross over from summer) get recognised. For those who would like to know more about the school sporting awards process, please see the attached document in this newsletter. They can also be found in the Sport folder on the intranet.

Netball

Saturday morning netball starts again this week and we have two teams at the Senior Schoolcompeting.  Games this week will be at PEDRINA PARK.  After that, games will be held at HILAC.

Our Magpies team plays two games, so please check times and make plans.  If anyone is unable to play, Hayley Spence is the contact for the Magpies, and myself for College Gold.

Thanks to Mrs Malseed for helping to arrange the teams for this season.

It will be great to see everyone out on the courts again this week – see you there!
