DOWNBALL RULES

Our Student Council members have been working on reviewing Epsom's 'Downball Rules'. These rules are displayed in the amphitheatre. The rules are there for everyone - so that all downball games are played fairly.

EPSOM PRIMARY SCHOOL’S OFFICIAL DOWNBALL RULES

Developed by: Student Council

  1. The ball has to bounce in your own square before going into another.
  2. If it bounces twice in your square before you hit it, you are out.
  3. You cannot reserve a square or a spot in the line for ANY reason unless you are getting the ball. No saves in line. No sacrifice. No favours.
  4. No ‘cups’ or ‘carries’. (This is when you scoop the ball with your hand in play)
  5. In the case of a liner, the Queen then serves.
  6. If you ‘roll’, you are out.
  7. No faults.
  8. Serves/shots have to be above the knee.
  9. The ball must stay below head height. The person who hits the ball above ‘head height’ is out.
  10. Outside liner is out.
  11. No replays.
  12. When you go out, you go to the end of the line.
  13. All games stop when the music/bell starts.
  14. No additional rules!

If you can’t follow the rules of the game, you are out of the game.

If there is a dispute, make a group decision - you can vote if you need to.

If you can’t sort out a dispute calmly and fairly, please speak to the Yard Duty teacher.

SCHOOL COUNCIL INVITATION

Mrs Ladd has kindly invited our student council members to attend School Council meetings. The attendees are organised at our meetings. Our Student Councillors share a brief presentation about what we have been discussing in our weekly Student Council meetings. This is a fantastic opportunity for our School Council members to ask the students questions and to ask their opinions on topics as well.
