Year 7 Leader Report

I would like to wish all year 7s a restful and well-earned term break. Enjoy your time with your family and friends. Take the opportunity to do some of the restful activities suggested by Claudia Hammond. She is the author of The Art of Rest: How to Find Respite in the Modern Age. Ms Hammond was involved in conducting one of the largest global surveys on rest. The responses from 18,000 people across from 135 different countries were compiled into a list of activities that people find the most restful. The top 10 are:

  1. Reading
  2. Being in a natural environment
  3. Being alone
  4. Listening to music
  5. Doing nothing in particular
  6. Walking
  7. Taking a bath/shower
  8. Daydreaming
  9. Watching TV
  10. Meditation or practising mindfulness

Year 7s, also use the time to reflect on what you have accomplished, what areas of improvement you need to focus on for next term and set two goals you would like to achieve by the end of the year. I leave you with words from a very wise man:

"Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."

- Nelson Mandela.

Year 8 Leader Report

Our Year 8s have had a successful term 3 both academically and in our sporting events. We have had a number of year 8s representing the school in the next round of Athletics, with a number going through to the next round. We also had the year 8 girls badminton compete in the regional finals and representing the school exceptionally well.

The year 8s have also demonstrated our school values of high expectations, responsibility, resilience, respect and team work (HRRRT) by having 71 of our students receiving their bronze award (10 HRRRT points) as well as a further 6 receiving their silver award (25 HRRRT points), which is a really positive feat by these students. They should be congratulated for their hard work in achieving these awards.

The students have a busy term 4 coming up, with their exam period, as well as beginning head start for next year.  We wish the year 8s a happy and safe holiday, as well as a successful term 4.
