Year 11 Biology

Field Work Report

On Thursday last week, the Year 11 Biology class spent the afternoon conducting field work on the 5 km Lion’s Lookout loop track.

The class was investigating how changes in the abiotic factors such as soil type, terrain, undulations and slope lead to changes in the biotic factors.

At four sites the students recorded data such as the vegetation type, dominant species, ground cover and conducted quadrat surveys.

The undulating nature of the track leads to several significant changes in the ecosystem, and as such, is the perfect spot for the compulsory field work component of the Year 11 Biology course.
