Library Specialist Lessons

It was great to see how excited the Foundation - Year 6 students were to be back in the library last week. Most students were very eager to browse and borrow the new books, especially after the two week break!

The main focus during last week’s library lessons was Anzac Day. We are fortunate to have a range of picture storybooks and non-fiction texts that recount the stories of men, women and animals at war, as well as those who were left at home – waiting, working, praying, hoping and sending care packages. Students enjoyed listening to, discussing and exploring a range of these books as a whole class and in small groups.

Lunchtime Clubs

As of this week, lunchtime clubs are back up and running in the library! The following clubs run on various days:

Manga Club - Monday @ Lunchtime

Manga Club is a club for students in Years 3 - Year 6 who have an interest in anime, manga and Japanese pop culture. If you love watching, reading, drawing or just talking about manga or anime then Manga Club is for you!

Unicorn Club - Tuesday @ Lunchtime

SJV's one and only Unicorn Club is a haven for unicorn lovers from Foundation - Year 6. Some of the activities our Unicorn Club members have recently enjoyed include making membership badges, creating Unicorn bunting and learning how to draw a unicorn ice-cream cone.

Chess Club - Tuesday @ Lunchtime

SJV’s Chess Club is a place where students can learn to play chess, hone their tactics and play socially. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned player, there is always something new to learn! Chess Club is open for Year 1 - Year 6 students.
