Grade 5/6 Students

Celebrating our fantastic Fives and sensational Sixes!

5/6A - Miss Morrison

The 5/6 students have been working on their poetry skills. Here is their ‘I am’ poem – where they had to describe themselves, as well as ‘up-level’ their vocabulary through using a thesaurus and correct their spelling using a dictionary!

To commemorate Remembrance Day, we unpacked the ‘In Flanders’ Field’ poem, defining the vocabulary choices and discussing the meaning behind the text. The students then visualised what they ‘saw’ when reading this poem and created a drawing to accompany their handwritten piece.

5/6B - Mr Jared

What a beautifully designed Medal to honour our fallen heroes for Remembrance Day. Lola was tasked with finding a quality that both soldiers and learners required.

Lola certainly hit the mark!

5/6 - Mr H

In 5/6, students have been explored structured and free verse poetry through a variety of prompts. We started our unit off by exploring poetic devices and interesting vocabulary through poems about ourselves. We focused on creating a poem that represents a characteristic of our personality, exploring interesting sentences that engage the reader. Watch this space for more information about our Grade 5 and 6 ballads!
