Wellbeing

Welcome to our Wellbeing Page

This week I came across a Wellbeing website called 'Grow Your Mind'. Whilst it has been developed for educators to use with a classroom setting, I also discovered that they have a very good section for families.  This section of the website includes:

 - Home Kits with resources to empower children when dealing with their emotions

 - Free Parent Webinars

 - Free Resources section

I have included a couple of their free resources for families. My two favourites are a list of Family Movie Recommendations and a list of Wellbeing Books / Novels.

Grow Your Mind have recommended 25 Movies and listed the different Wellbeing themes associated with each movie.

The attachment below is a list of books to support developing Wellbeing themes and Values. The books cover concepts such as resilience, kindness, courage, respect, optimism, emotional regulation, curiosity, generosity and many more. The book recommendations have been divided into categories for children of different age groups. This list is definitely worth looking at for something to add to you summer reading schedule.

Finally, if you like to have an advent calendar with a twist, then have a look at this one from 'Grow Your Mind'. This calendar encourages families to focus on gratitude, mindfulness and acts of kindness instead of a chocolate to mark each day in the lead up to Christmas.

Have a look at the photograph for the idea on how to put it all together. I have included instructions and print outs to put it all together. I did try this style of advent calendar in my home for a couple of years; a bit of grumbling in the beginning about the loss of a chocolate treat eat day, but eventually I brought them around to the idea of gratefulness at this special time of the year.

I hope that these last few weeks of school are a positive and reflective time for you and your family,

Take care,
