"May this season remind you of the hope, joy, love and peace found in Christ

Romans 15:13

Advent

The season of Advent reminds us that we can look forward to and prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas. It is a season of so many things: expectation, reflection, hope and trust. We are constantly in a state of expectation, always in advent, so much so that we can miss the present moment where, inevitably, God will be.

Preparation for Christmas is an important theme for Advent, but more is involved. Advent gives us a vision of our lives as Christians and shows us the possibilities of life.

The vision of life that Advent gives us is twofold; it looks back to the first coming of Christ at Bethlehem, and it looks to the future when Christ will come again. In the interval between these two events, we find meaning in our life as Christians.

This is the "greater significance" of Advent. In these few short weeks, we take in the sweeping panorama of time - from Christ's birth to his Second Coming. The season of Advent brings us the magnificent vision of life and hope for the future given to us by Christ.

Christmas Appeal

During our Advent liturgies on Presentation Day, we were reminded of the peace, hope, joy and love that Christmas brings. Representatives from our Pastoral Care classes brought forward their hampers full of donations to those in great need this Christmas.

It was a delight to see these hampers overflowing with donations. St Vincent De Paul was overwhelmed at the quality of hampers donated this year. I thank each and every one of you who donated to ensure that families in our local community have food this Christmas.

Brigidine Sisters - Christmas Hampers

This morning I had the pleasure of delivering individual hampers to each of our Brigidine Sisters. Thank you to the incredible staff who put these together. The Sisters were overwhelmed with joy and were immensely grateful for the love and support given by the College.
