Term 4 2021

We are XENICA! 

Reading

In Term 4 Reading, students have been exposed to making text to self connections. Xenica students have read a variety of mentor texts and have drawn on their prior knowledge and experiences in order to make these connections. 

We have continued to  work on developing our comprehension skills to demonstrate our understanding of the texts we have been reading. We have answered the questions, using the clues from the text to support our answers and thinking.

Writing

In Term 4 Writing, students have explored writing Persuasive Texts. We have focused on identifying reasons for and against, and using these reasons to create a strong argument to support our beliefs. We have worked on including persuasive language and supporting details. 

Maths 

In Maths Term 4, Xenica has been focusing on learning about shapes and location and transformation of shapes. They learned the features of 2 dimensional shapes and 3 dimensional objects, identifying the differences between 2D and 3D shapes and objects, drawing them, creating 3D objects with toothpicks and play dough and investigating positional language. They played games that helped them practice positional language of objects being in, out, over, under, to the side, next to, by an object, etc…

• Bring hats and water bottles to school clearly labelled
• Please ensure your students are attending school ‘It’s not ok to be away’.
