Year 5/6 Excursion to Ceres

As part of our Inquiry unit, Recipe for Change, the Year 5/6 students went to CERES Community Environment Park in East Brunswick. Despite having battled the morning traffic and miserable weather, students wasted no time getting into all the activities the Park had to offer!

Students explored the different ways to improve their impact on our world. Some of the activities for the day included looking at Renewable Energy and Sustainable Designs.

Students also got to experience the Park's 'Eco Display House' which was designed to promote energy efficient housing. Some of these features included solar panels, double glazed windows, deliberate placement of architecture and efficient lighting.

Overall this was an invaluable experience for the Year 5/6 Community. This excursion will be used as a basis for a range of avenues students will do further research into in the Inquiry sessions to come.
