The Design Process in Year 8 Food Tech
This term in Year 8 Food Technology students have been learning about the Design Process. They have developed design briefs, written criteria for evaluation questions, and conducted market research to assist in developing their ideas. Each student developed 4 original pizza ideas and was required to describe both the positives and negatives of their design.
The final stage in the Design Process enable students to produce their original pizza designs. Most impressive were the sweet pizza designs which saw marshmallow crusts, fresh strawberries and cookie dough on trial. Our last lesson for the term will see students write up a detailed evaluation of the new pizza they designed, which will include ideas for improvements and a recommendation to the client. The energy and enthusiasm demonstrated by all students was fantastic and probably due to the fact that the scenario was connected to real world problems and solutions.
