Farewell to Staff

Mrs Carol Harpley - Primary Teacher

How long you have been at BCS?  I started in 1995 permanently but I did casual work before that.

Best moment you have had here? Too numerous to single out one moment.  I would say the special days such as Smart Night and Queanbeyan Arts.  Those ah ha moments when a student demonstrates they understand something.  Great staff to work with.

What is your favourite part about teaching at BCS? Having the opportunity to really get to know students as individuals.  Seeing the students grow from Kindergarten right through to young adults in year 12.

Where you are heading from here?   I will be retiring to do a  little more travel and time with family, some renovations.  Perhaps some tutoring or casual work.

Ms Pamela Harris - Head Teacher English

How long you have been at BCS?  I arrived at Boorowa Central on 26th April, 2016.

Best moment you have had here? I have enjoyed many wonderful moments- seeing the joy on a student's face when all the pieces fell into place, or working with dedicated colleagues who made work fun.

What is your favourite part about teaching at BCS? Central Schools are like family- they are special places and the relationships forged between teachers and students can  be lifelong. I started my teaching career at a central school and was there for 21 years, had 10 years at a large high school and came back to a central school because they are such wonderful learning and teaching environments. I have always felt very welcome here and I will miss being a part of this community.

Where you are heading from here?  I will be retiring next year and am looking forward to spending time with my granddaughter, gardening, travelling and painting.

Miss Madeleine Tyson - Secondary English Teacher/Yr 12 Mentor

How long you have been at BCS?  3.5 years, I came in mid 2016

Best moment you have had here? I have had so many great moments! It's such a fulfilling feeling when you see a student have that 'ah-ha' moment where they finally get it. I also loved the whole school events when everyone came together - trivia days, PBL days, carnivals etc

What is your favourite part about teaching at BCS? The kids are what makes a school, and the kids at BCS are pretty fantastic. They are genuine and easy-going. An added bonus is that the staff here are amazing. Everyone is supportive and willing to help. I will miss everyone I have met at BCS.

Where you are heading from here?  I am heading to Wagga to be closer to family and will be teaching at The Riverina Anglican College.
