Semi Final vs Gulargambone

Result Boorowa Defeated Gulargambone by 8 wickets

Boorowa lost the toss and were told to bowl first and the boys put on a disciplined display of bowling and fielding restricting Gulargambone to 107 and bowling them out in 37 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Josh Demont who took 3 wickets and gave very few runs away with 4 maidens and final figures of 3-2 (6) and Josh Dean who took 2 wickets including one that included possible the catch of the century by Josh Karchinsky. Other bowlers of note were Logan Mears with  1-8 (2), Hayden Hewitt 1-5 (2) and Ben Klose whom also bowled a tidy 1-6 off 6 overs including 4 maidens. The boys possibly could have restricted Gulargambone to less runs with a few dropped catches but overall it was a quality bowling display.

The opening batsmen of Ben Klose and Felix Crozier got us off to a great start with an opening partnership of 38 before Ben was bowled by a peach to depart with 23 runs. He was joined by Joe Prosper who added 11 more runs before Jacob Piper came on to finish the job with 21 not out alongside Felix who finished with 40 not out. It was a great innings in very hot conditions not ideal for batting.  The boys enjoyed a recovery swim and were into the final to play Ungarie the next day who defeated Tooleybuc.

Final vs Ungarie

Result Ungarie defeated Boorowa by 10 wickets

Boorowa won the toss and had no hesitation in batting and got off to a slow but great start. After 6 overs Ungarie were unable to break through in the first 6 overs but they broke through with a rash shot from Ben Klose seeing him depart for 3. Joe Prosper came to the crease to add another 7 before being bowled which then saw Jacob Piper come to the crease to add our top score of 27 before hooking to deep mid wicket and being caught in the deep. This saw a flurry of wickets with James Farrell making 10, Josh Demont 2, Josh Karchinsky 7, N Welch 0, Logan Mears 0 and Darcy Fogg Not out on 0. The boys were bowled out for 81 and had a lot of work to do in the field to defend this score. The team was also victim to a double hat trick by one of the Ungarie bowlers.

In the reply Ungarie had little trouble chasing down the score, Boorowa had some tough chances that went down that may of put pressure on Ungarie, however, they were unable to take their chances and Ungarie chased the total down in 15 overs. Bowling figures of note were Hayden Hewitt bowling a great maiden with some tight lines. It was great batting effort from the Ungarie openers who batted very well.

The trip was a great success with the team finishing as Silver medalists in the competition which the school should be very proud of. The boys look forward to next year and enjoyed the trip very much.
