Principal's Report

Parent-Teacher interviews

Thank you to all our families who made it to parent-teacher interviews last week.  We had over 600 appointments take place as we celebrated the students learning so far this year. Teachers are currently conducting a variety of assessments to inform the mid year reports that they are working on.  Reports this year will be available on Compass - you will receive a notification near the end of term when they are complete.

Mother’s Day Stall

A massive thank you goes to our Mother's Day stall helpers.  This is a huge task and the opportunity couldn't be provided without many volunteers.  We hope all the mum's in our school community enjoyed a gift from the stall.

NAPLAN

This week our Years 3 and 5 took part in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy).  NAPLAN tests the skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. The school will receive the results in September and use them to help teachers identify where children are at with their learning and to indicate the performance trend of the school in the teaching of literacy and numeracy over a number of years.  Individual student NAPLAN results will be sent home with each student, maintaining confidentiality.

Student Insurance

Families are reminded and should consider that the Department of Education does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students.  In the unlikely event of injury, parents and carers of students who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport costs.

Grade 6-Year 7 Transition

It is now time to work through the Transition Enrolment/Placement Application process for your Year 6 student for 2020.  The following link can help you with this process of decision-making and then the relevant documents to complete.

Placement Application forms were due today.  Please make sure they are returned by Monday 20th May if you have not already done so.  Further information from the Department of Education via this link.

WOOLWORTHS EARN & LEARN is on again

We are collecting the Woolworths Earn & Learn stickers again.  We have the sticker sheets available at the school Office or at Woolworths.  We look forward to collecting as many as we can to earn some great prizes for our school!

Enrolments for 2020 students

We are currently in the process of planning for 2020.   We are holding a Prep 2020 information night on Tuesday 4th June commencing at 6.00pm.  If you know of anyone who is considering enrolling at Pakenham Springs next year - either in Prep or other year levels, please ask them to contact the school office on 59457 400 and we can help them with any queries.

Designated Neighbourhood Boundary (DNB).

In order to accommodate our current students and manage enrolments, a school boundary exists for Pakenham Springs Primary School.  Findmyschool.vic.gov.au hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school boundaries for 2020 onwards. To visit the site see: www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au

If you have a question about school boundaries, call the VSBA Hotline on 1800 896 950 or email vsba@edumail.vic.gov.au
