School & Community Partnerships

On behalf of the school community I would like to thank the members of the School and Community Partnerships Committee (Rob Graham. Amy Rose, Sally Bradshaw, Karolin Freedman, Susan Attrill, Tom Scott, Vicki Smith, Linda Rippingille and Andrew Cock) for their contributions in 2017.
Class Representatives
Thank you to our Parent Class Representatives who have generously and ably taken on the role of assisting our Class Teachers with organising family participation this year: Martha Rand, Bridget Hast, Joey Cooney, Gina Millar, Jaclyn Paltos, Susie Condron, Kym Smith, Katrina Walter, Fiona Quail, Kylie Jeffares, Amy Rose and Laurian Treleani.
Ripper Families
While every parent in our school community is a member of our social and fundraising body, Ripper Families, the organisation of each individual event falls to a few, therefore I am truly grateful for the time, effort and dedication of the following parents:
- Hot Cross Buns – thanks to Helen Tyrrell
- Burger & Shake Day – thanks to Kym Smith
- Family Movie Outing – thanks to Michelle Loft
- Entertainment Books – thanks to Kylie Jeffares

I would like to extend special thanks to Joey Cooney who has coordinated the online social media promotion for all of these events via Instagram and the school Facebook site – an outstanding effort!
And to Susie Condron, who has cheerfully and tirelessly assisted with the execution of all of these events ... a truly inspirational Social and Fundraising Coordinator!
2017 also brought our biannual Ripper Art event, organised magnificently by Miria Kostiuk and Heidi Skillen. A huge job and one that greatly amplifies the promotion of our school in the local community.
These events would not be successful without the support of each and every family at Ripponlea Primary, therefore we are extremely grateful to everyone who has participated this year - you have enabled Ripper Families to raise over $26,000. Along with the funds raised at Ripper Art in May and parents’ voluntary contributions to our Building, Library, Maintenance and Special Projects funds, we made a number of improvements to the school this year, including classroom acoustics and the purchase of iPads and robotics for the Maker Space.
The work of the Class Reps, School Council and Ripper Families would be impossible without the support of Natalie, Sarah, Linda and Andrew ... thank you for your assistance with everything we’ve undertaken this year. And to Mark Soroczynski who is always willing to clean up the mess we make at these events – we are eternally grateful for your support.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank Fiona Quail and Andrea Rutherford for their coordination of the Year 6 Graduation Book – a beautiful and treasured keepsake. The Graduation Ceremony held earlier this week was absolutely beautiful – so many proud parents and happy students.
Snack Shack
For their assistance on the Snack Shack Committee, I thank Susie Moloney and Tobi Dikstein, and Hani Papalia who leaves us this year after many years of involvement. And of course the MANY parents who helped out each Wednesday and Friday. Without your involvement we cannot provide this invaluable opportunity for grade 5 and 6 students to gain customer service experience and for the whole student body to practice money handling and shopping skills in a safe and supportive environment. Thank you also to the grade 4, 5 and 6 students who gave up their recess time each week to serve the other students.
Uniform Shop
Amy Rose, Sally Bradshaw, Kate Keon-Cohen and Michelle Loft again enabled us to provide an on-site uniform service and we are very thankful for their efforts every Friday morning and throughout each week.
Finally, on a personal note, I thank Kim Thurlow for nine years of extraordinary contribution. She has worked tirelessly for continuous improvement in all areas of our school. Her enthusiasm, support, wise counsel and guidance have been invaluable. We will miss her greatly.
I am, once again, grateful to have worked alongside the RPS families who are so dedicated to providing a rich and diverse learning environment for our children. Thank you for your support and involvement.
