Early Learning Centre

Reconciliation has featured in the Early Learning Centre at this time. The children have discussed what “Reconciliation” means with many interesting answers

  • Makes things better
  • Tell the truth of the Aboriginal people
  • Walking (together with courage)
  • About the Kaurna
  • Aboriginals

Even some adults have difficulty with a definition; I think our children have done a really good job capturing the essence of “Reconciliation”.

Many experiences were offered – foot printing, flag making, experimenting with lemon myrtle leaves and the playdough, using clay and reading dreamtime stories.

The children from the Purple and Yellow rooms have written their own Kaurna acknowledgement of Country.

We live and play on Kaurna land,

We thank you Kaurna people,

We will look after the land we share

And the animals and the people,

Hello sky,

Hello me,

Hello friends

The Early Learning Centre is in the process of developing a Reconciliation Action Plan. A working party has been formed and will hold the first meeting on Wednesday 12 June at 7.00pm at the Early Learning Centre. Anyone interested in contributing is more than welcome to attend.
