From the Primary School

Last week representatives from the Crows Growing with Gratitude program visited the Primary School

From the Primary School

The winter weather has certainly arrived, and the mornings are now quite chilly. Please make sure your son has the appropriate school winter attire to keep him warm on these frosty mornings.

FYI Education

Week 5 was an eventful week in the Primary School. We had Richard from FYI Education visit with his inflatable classroom. He facilitated a session with each class around different health issues based on the Australian curriculum. The boys became ‘Junior Secret Agents’ for their mission as they discussed age level appropriate topics that link with the Health and PE achievement standards.

Oscar I, Reception - “It was really funny.”

Henry 0, Reception – “I learnt not to touch medicine if it’s not yours.”

Crows Visit

Towards the end of Week 5 we had representative from the Adelaide Crows' Growing with Gratitude program visit to talk to the R-6 boys about the five places of happiness and how the boys need to focus on the positive aspects of their life. The R-2 boys then took part in a footy clinic after lunch.

Alex S, Year 2 – “It was fun, and we were laughing at Claude because he was really funny.”

Henry F, Year 2 – “I liked when we got to go outside and kick the footy.”

Social Justice in Action

This week 5LW has started making soup with the pumpkins that have been grown in the vegetable garden. This soup will be donated to charity to help feed the homeless. This is part of their Religious Education unit on caring for God’s creation as they have been discussing social justice and how to care for others.

Jedd, Year 5 – “I feel good knowing that I am helping those who are homeless.”

Lewis P, Year 5 – “I enjoyed making the soup because I know I am making a difference in people’s lives.”

Ground Force Dance

The boys have now had six dance lessons with the Ground Force team and are busy practising for their performance at Primary Arts Night in Week 9. The girls facilitate a 45-minute lesson with each class on a Wednesday based on the achievement standards in the Arts section of the Australian curriculum. They will also rehearse with them on the day before the performance. The girls are running various workshops in the July school holidays that your son may be interested in.  Please see the information below.

Tighe M, Year 2 - “I look forward to doing dance each week. I have learnt how do the vine.”

Fletcher W, Year 4 - “I like that they teach us new moves and correct us to make sure we get it right.”

Gbemi A, Year 4  - “I like that they help us with dance and make us confident with what we do”.
