Sydenham Campus Principal Message

Welcome back!

A very warm welcome back to both our new and returning families, and also to the 233 Year 7 students who have started with us this year, by far the largest intake in campus history and a testament to the fine educational opportunities available at Copperfield College.

New Teachers.

We would also like to welcome a number of new teachers to the campus, including Ms. Gianna Costa-Probyn in ‘E’ Team, Ms. Celine Chung, Ms. Trinh Nguyen and Ms. Vivianne Ly in ‘H’ Team, Mr. Liam Duhig-Jones in ‘B’ Team, and Ms. Sue Hatton and Ms. Nina Do in ‘K’ Team.  Welcome also to Mr. George Sawan who is filling a long-term leave position in ‘K’ Team, and welcome back to Ms. Narelle Sumner who adds experience to our Year 9/10 Student Management Team as a Team Leader.

Year 7 Special Induction Program

As you would be aware, we prioritise the first three days of the school year as a time for our Year 7 students to bond with their Homegroup and Homegroup Teacher.

This year’s transition program was an overwhelming success, resulting in our Year 7s adapting rabidly to their new surrounds.  Iron Form Day will be held on March 20th this year – we look forward to letting you know who wins!

Year 7 Scholarships

Congratulations to our scholarship recipients: Zaid, Teegan, Stephanie and Jayinder for Academic Excellence; Chiara , Taylah, Shanee, Olivia-Rose and Shayla for Performing Arts and Nevaeh and Suela for Leadership and Community.  We look forward to witnessing your achievements and contributions over the course of 2019.

Parent Teacher Meet and Greet – Tuesday, February 19

Thank you to all parents who attended our ‘Meet and Greet’ Evening on the 19th of February.  We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did.  Please keep up the communication should you have any concerns and, as always, we welcome your input and participation into the running of our campus.

Elevate Educate

Targeted study skills sessions, facilitated by Elevate Educate, have now been delivered across all classes and year levels.  The aim of this program is to support students in developing habits and attributes that will contribute to ongoing academic success during their time at the College.

Swimming Carnival

A successful start to our new format Swimming Carnival: this year all Year 7 and 8 students attended with only those Year 9 and 10 students who wanted to compete were involved.  Thank you to all students who competed and all students who dressed up and participated so actively.

As you can it has been a very busy start to the year! Remember that there are always plenty of opportunities for parents and students to become involved in the Campus and that we are here should you require any assistance.

Good luck for the remainder of 2019.

Mr Phillip Coloca and Mr Mark Nugent
