Year 11 Outdoor Education Camp

On Monday the 18 February the Year 11 Outdoor and Environmental Studies class left for a 3 day camping trip around Torquay and Anglesea. They started the trip off learning about the changes in technology and how this impacted on the number of people who have participated in surfing over time. After leaving Surf World they tightened their boot straps and set off form Bird Rock in Torquay to just short of Point Addis just outside of Anglesea. The students set up their tents and then headed to the beach for an afternoon of activities and relaxing. On Tuesday we packed up and headed into Torquay for Surf Kayaking with the kids and teachers having an absolute ball. Afterwards we learnt about the Great Ocean Road Conservation group and what they do to help manage the local area as far away as Lorne. On Wednesday we were up and going for out 7:30am surfing lesson down at Cosy Corner, the students were a little weary at first but quickly woke up when they hit the waves. The first of our students Danny standing up almost straight away, not a bad way to start off his 17th birthday I'm sure. All in all the students represent the school amazingly and learnt a lot about the environment and each other along the way.
