Senior School Swimming Carnival

Our swimming carnival this year proceeded under the threat of possible thunderstorms forecast to arrive sometime during the afternoon. We had a plan in place if the storms hit, but began under clear blue skies and a full commitment from everyone to proceed as normal and deal with the storms if they arrived.

The Spirit Cup is the first activity and was a highly anticipated part of our day. With an excellent display of chants, colour and choreography from every House, it was the students from Jones House who were judged to have the most outstanding repertoire.  To watch all of the Houses compete in the Spirit Cup, click HERE.

The t-shirt relay, lilo race, water polo and synchronized bomb were followed by the diving and freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events.

Unfortunately, after watching many storms drift around us, one placed Bendigo in its path and we were forced to take cover while the storm passed overhead. We were unable to re-commence the program

Owing to time lost and the threat of more lightning, the relays which usually are a feature of our carnival were unable to proceed. Regrettably our year 12 students were also unable to honour the long-held tradition of the ‘synchronised fan entry’ into the water from the edge of the 50m pool.

Points were allocated for each event that was completed, with the final tally revealing Jenkin as the overall champion House. Congratulations to all students in Jenkin House.
