Chickens

Do you remember the chicks we had in the Prep Room last year?

When they popped out of their shells and they were strong enough,

I took all six of them to my grandma’s house to live.

One of the chicks, unfortunately, died.  Three of the chicks turned

out to be roosters and had to be given away.  And two chicks grew

into chickens and now happily live at my grandma’s house with all

her other chickens.

My grandma named the two chicks Luna and Georgia.  They are best

friends and always hang out together.  They drink plenty of water,

they eat wheat, organic chicken feed, bread and vegetable scraps.

They go to sleep when the sun goes down and wake up when the sun comes up.

And best of all, they each lay one egg a day.

Ideas from SMPPSs Student Executive Team

WAYS WE CAN SUPPORT OUR SMPPS COMMUNITY

If you feel stressed out after lots of work you can meditate or just sit in a quiet spot and relax your shoulders, it will help you feel calm. If it’s a rainy day and you have sports you can just do some sports activities inside! You can scrunch up paper then you can throw it like a tennis ball!

You can put a teddy bear outside your window to show that you are supporting our SMPPS community.

If you get stuck on a school activity, call one of your school mates and ask them what they did!

ACTIVITIES TO TRY

Making snow

Henrique, Director of STEM Learning

You will need:

  • White Hair Conditioner
  • Baking soda
  • Twigs, Cocktail Stick, Ribbon, Orange Marker, Pebbles (optional – these are for the snowman, but you don’t need to make the snow man if you don’t want)

First get a small mug and fill it up with baking soda. You need to do this three times!

Then get white hair conditioner and fill it up half way in your mug.

Then pour the baking soda and the white hair conditioner into a large bowl.

Then start mixing it with your hands until it feels soft. If it’s too sticky, pour some more baking soda and start mixing it together.

I hope you like it! For further information visit this link: https://youtu.be/AZbjrYcNpPs

And remember, SAFETY FIRST! Make sure you have an adult supervising you at all times and make sure you wash your hands and don’t touch or scrub your eyes during the process of making it.
