Sport & PE Report:

It's been a busy couple of weeks:
Eureka Swim Sports carnival was held on Thursday the March 5th
Last Thursday we had a number of students represent our school at the next level for the Swim Sports carnival. Despite the drizzly weather, our students encouraged and cheered each other on throughout the day. Thank you to those students who volunteered their time to help with duties such as timekeeping, marshalling and handing out place cards. We also had several students who swam on the day also step in and assist with duties. Well done.
A special congratulations to Samuel Stoneman and Charlie Stone who placed in the following events:
Samuel Stoneman Charlie Stone
1st 50m Butterfly 2nd 50m Butterfly

Senior Boys Tennis was held on Wed 4th March
Our Senior Boys Tennis team of Matthew Greville, George Maver, David Garcia and Harry Campbell played in the Regional Tennis Competition at the Ballarat Regional Tennis Centre on the 4th March.
The boys played 3 matches - playing against Emmanuel College (Warrnambool), Marian College (Ararat) and Trinity College (Colac). They did not win any sets, but managed some close sets, with games scored against their opponents in each of the matches.
All 4 boys represented the College proudly and with impeccable sportsmanship. It was pleasing to see their skills strengthen as they progressed from match to match.

PE Classes Swimming and Water Safety
Last week we finished up our Swimming and Water Safety program at the Brown Hill Pool. We had every year 7 to 10 PE class participate over the 4 week program, culminating with final assessments in the last week. The program has improved students safety in and around the water and we hope to extend the program to improve stroke swimming for the Eureka Swim competition in 2021. A big thank you to all the students who continued to swim even though February had a few cold and rainy days.
Volleyball
On Friday 28th February, the Senior girls and Intermediate boys volleyball teams boarded a bus with Mount Clear students to Daylesford for the Eureka Division volleyball tournament. It has been a long time since Woodmans Hill competed in volleyball but as we always do, we showed our determination to be competitive all day. Both teams gradually improved throughout the day only losing their final matches by 2 points, 25 v 23. Everyone had a lot of fun and with their new found volleyball skills, the senior students look forward to coaching the junior volleyball teams in Term 3 when their Eureka date gets closer.
