Message from the College Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

What an amazing start to the term! On behalf of all the staff at Tarneit P9 College I would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all our wonderful students for their outstanding work during this period of remote learning. In addition to this, we would like to thank our parents and carers, for your patience, your ongoing support and your overall positivity during this time. It has been greatly appreciated.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful staff for all their hard work preparing for and moving our College to remote learning. As you can imagine this has not been a simple or straightforward task, however, they have done an outstanding job and gone above and beyond to ensure our students continue to learn and are supported. Well done team!

As I am sure you are all aware, the topic of remote learning and when schools should return is a constant discussion point in our media and from our government. The different approaches taken by the different states has meant there has been some confusion or mixed messages.  At this stage, all Victorian Government schools are operating under the direction that we will be learning remotely for all of Term 2. If this changes at any point, we will notify you.

As you are assisting or supervising your child to engage in remote learning, remember that no one expects you to be a teacher or subject matter expert. The most important thing you can do is continue to provide routine, support and encouragement to your child. If you have any questions or require assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher via Compass.

Over the last few weeks we have been working with our staff to create a Remote Learning Parent Guide. This guide, which will soon be shared with you, contains lots of helpful tips, including:

  • Setting up a successful learning environment
  • Establishing routines and expectations
  • Communication
  • Attendance
  • Teaching & Learning
  • Assessment and Feedback
  • Wellbeing Supports

To assist us with future planning, we will be seeking feedback on how we can further support your children and you throughout the remote learning period. A short five minute survey will be sent out early next week to assist with this process going forward.

We feel incredibly fortunate to work with such a wonderful community. Well done Tarneit P9 College, we should all be very proud of what we have and will continue to achieve!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and thank you again!

Kind Regards,
