Medals all round at the Regional Swimming Finals

Regional Swimming

In the last week of Term 1 our Regional Swim team competed in the Regional Finals at Watermarc in Greensborough. We had a lot of success in the pool with every team member coming home with a medal draped around their neck.  All team members who were placed first in their event moved through to the State Finals which was held in Week 1 of term 2.  Well done to all of our Regional Swimmers.

State Swimming

Congratulations to the following Students - Jackson Bedggood, Hannah Proctor-Parkin, Tim Ingram, Hayden Nunn and Thomas  Noonan who all competed in State Swimming Finals on Wednesday 18th April.  Tim Ingram came away with 2 medals placing 2nd in the 200m IM and 3rd in 50m Backstroke.  All 5 team members were happy with the day and most achieved their PB’s.  They should all be proud of themselves, all the hard work in the pool at training before and after school, has shaped you all into great athletes and good sports. Thank you to the parents who were able to come along and support, I know it’s not easy to attend during the day, but I am sure the students appreciate it as much as we do.

VCE Volleyball

Well done to our VCE Girls Volleyball team who competed in the Regional Finals on Thursday 19th April.  Unfortunately the girls came up against their toughest opponents in Eltham in their first match. They were defeated 2 sets 0.  The second match was more even, with the girls finishing off 1-1 at the end of the second set, taking the match into a third set decider. Unfortunately the girls couldn’t quite keep the momentum going and Mt Ridley ended up defeating our girls 2-1. Although the girls didn’t have any wins on the day, they displayed some great teamwork and skill.  Throughout the day their teachers would have been proud to see the girls hit the books to study on their breaks between games. Nice work girls, it’s great to see you have the important balance between study and sport.

Intermediate Regional Baseball

Thursday 26th April saw our Intermediate Baseball Team compete in the Regional Finals at Mill Park Baseball Club.  Although the boys didn’t have a win for the day they should be congratulated for their sportsmanship and willingness to try a sport that some of them had very little experience with.  A big thank you goes out to our more experienced players Luca Craven, Liam Cust and Bryce Erickson who were great in coaching and encouraging the boys throughout the day.

Intermediate Regional Volleyball

Our Intermediate Girls Volleyball team played in the Regional Finals at Darebin Community Sports Centre on April 26.  The girls cruised easily through their first match defeating Melbourne Girls College winning the match 2-0.  In their second match they came up against our toughest rivals Eltham. The girls put up a good fight but just couldn’t quite get the points on the board when needed, losing 2-0.  The third round for the girls was a more evenly contested match taking it to the 3 set with our girls finishing off nicely winning 2-1. Well done girls, all of those early morning training sessions are paying off.  Thank you to Mr Brookes for going out with the girls on the day and Jonny K for coaching the girls.
