Combining Art and Literature

Announcing the NHS 2018 Library Bookmark Challenge winners!

The second NHS Library Bookmark Challenge was extended over March and April this year to ensure everyone had a chance to submit their entry.  The Arts Committee set a similar brief to last year – design bookmarks inspired by literature, to be our official library bookmarks for 2018.   The aim was to promote the library and literature as well as showcasing our student’s artistic flair.

Congratulations to the five winners of the 2018 library bookmark challenge.

Amy Stokes       Y8                          Where the Wild Things Are

Hannah Kelly    Y9                         Harry Potter

Joel Taylor         Y8                         A Christmas Carol

Milla Freeman   Y9                        Medley of 3 novels

Pippi Hayman   Y9                        Sherlock Holmes

It was a very competitive field with our students demonstrating a high level of creativity and artistic skill.  We received a range of submissions making it very difficult for the panel to choose the five finalists.   The winning entrants were a mix of techniques in digital design, collage, water colour and hand drawn pen and ink.

There are many people to thank for their substantial contribution to make this challenge a success.

  1. The Arts Committee led by Ms Stewart,
  2. Hangsam Nambang (Y8)  for designing the bookmark challenge poster,
  3. Ms Sirec for her graphic design expertise and the time and effort she spent preparing the artwork proofs for the Printer.
  4. The Judges – Sue Harrap, Connie Stewart, Peta Sirec, and Jenny Tripp

A special thanks to all the students who submitted entries.
