Attendance at school

Over the past week we’ve experienced a high rate of student absence. This is to be expected after a year with less interaction with others and less spreading of general germs. Thank you to the families that have kept their germs at home!

Conversely, we have had a few isolated reports of children having ‘a day off’. Whilst our school has a four year average absence rate of 11.3 days per child per year, some students across the state miss three weeks of school per year (State four year average 15.3 days per child per year). That’s half a year of school by the time they finish primary school! A ‘day off’ has flow on affects to ‘continuity of learning’ and may disadvantage a child’s social, emotional and academic progress.
