WELCOME and THANK YOU

  • It has been welcome to see that many School Councillors have renominated for another two year term, in addition to a couple of new Councillors joining this year (Amy Prior and Laura Kitching).  These Councillors are all committed and competent volunteers who continue to support the Principal Team in providing the best possible educational outcomes for students at CHPS.  I would also like to thank Bree Jennings, Leigh Dixon and Cameron Yorke for their dedicated work during past years on School Council.  It really is a standout community that exists at CHPS and I am looking forward to another productive year working with School Council and the Principal Team.
  • As this was our first meeting in the Staffroom since March 2020, it was really delightful hearing updates from a panel of six student members of the school. Thank you to  School Captains Anna and Angus; and JSC representatives Mia, Mae, Lola and Chloe for attending.  They presented their plans for 2021 to School Council and shared some of their feedback about being back at school and being on JSC thus far.  They all did a great job presenting to us and their enthusiasm about being on JSC and being in a position to help their fellow students was very evident. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
  • Christian’s Principal Report highlighted the following:
    • How staff have already extended their learning by engaging in a range of professional learning.
    • The school has continued to reconnect and engage with the community, with school-run events coupled with CHAPS and MOTHS activities.
    • Teachers, parents and students are all enjoying the fact that parent helpers are active in the classroom this term.  Many of the Councillors reported how great it is to be able to help out again with excursions, interschool sport and in the classroom, and there seems to be no shortage of helpers.
    • The many planned enhancements to our facilities and learning environment that are currently in progress or scheduled for this term – seven projects have already been completed this term and seven more are scheduled for completion during this term or over the holidays.
    • After much considered work, the 2021-2024 School Strategic Plan and 2020 Annual Report were presented and have now been reviewed and endorsed by School Council.  They will be presented to the School Community in the coming weeks.  The Annual Report provides the retrospective highlights of the School from 2020 and the Strategic Plan outlines the goals, targets and key improvement strategies for the School for the next four years.

HOMEWORK at CHPS

  • The Homework Policy is currently being reviewed by a team of staff within the school and Jordan Tate sought School Councils feedback on the current homework arrangements across the school.  He collected our opinions on what should and shouldn’t be continued in the future.  In addition to this, both a staff and parent survey will be sent out to obtain additional feedback for the review team to consider whilst they construct the updated Homework Policy.  Keep an eye out for it if you would like to share your thoughts!  Thanks, Jordan for putting this workshop together and considering our collective feedback.
