International Women’s Day Celebrations

Throughout Week 7 and 8, we have been recognising gendered inequities that exist by creating awareness for International Women’s Day. The global theme in 2021 is Choose to Challenge

Students and staff shared their frustrations and experiences of challenging gender stereotypes. The library created a wonderful display celebrating the theme.

Each week students and staff participated in conversations prompted by daily release of facts, case studies and women making change.

A highlight was the panel discussion held in the Wellbeing Hub where we had Rachel Xia (Yr 12), Brynn O’Dea (Yr 11), Ms Longden, Mr Smith, Ms Fuller and Mr Wilkins share perspectives on how our school community can Choose to Challenge and the men and women who they see as champions for change in challenging gender bias.

Wellbeing Hub Activities

There has been plenty of activity in the Hub this term with breakfast club, mindful Monday’s and Q&A Group.  We celebrated the 25 year success of Breakfast Clubs being run in schools by having Eva (SEIL) and Barbara Crowe(AED) attend along with our Principal Team.

Students are invited to attend any sessions in the Wellbeing Hub.

We welcome Shivangi Sharma to the role of Integration Aide to our learning support team in 2021 and are excited for her to be working with students in the classroom.
