School Captains' Reflection

Ava White and Avon Agsornwong

Ava White – School Captain

Hey everyone! I’m Ava and I am so honored to be your School Captain for 2021. I am also excited to be working alongside the super fun, super friendly Avon, the 2021 Vice-Captain.

We, alongside the Prefect team (who are also amazing) are going to be working really hard to make this year great for everyone, and considering we’re all still actually at school, I’d say this year’s already going better than 2020.

We’ve started the year off strong with a beautifully decorated Common Room for the Year 12’s, if I do say so myself, not to mention the fabulous Valentine’s decorations. School-wide production rehearsals have also been getting underway (as always, it’s sure to be great so make sure you get tickets!) and of course the Swimming Carnival with all its fabulous costumes (my personal favorite being Sportacus, a LazyTown hero) bringing the school together for a great day out in which the sun thankfully made an appearance.

This year we are really hoping to bring a focus to mental health because I know for me personally, last year was a wake-up call for how important it really is. We Captains and a few other Prefects will be volunteering at the Wellbeing Centre during lunch times throughout this year so if you’re in the mood for some mindfulness feel free to come on up! We are super friendly and I would love to get to know you all! That goes for anywhere in the school, not just Wellbeing, you can never have too many friends so feel free to say hi and have a chat!

Avon Agsornwong – School Vice-Captain

Hi everyone, I’m Avon and I am absolutely thrilled to be your Vice-Captain for 2021! I am absolutely honoured to be working with the amazing School Captain, Ava White, and of course our fantastic Prefect team. We all have an wonderful year planned this year with lots of fun activities and hopefully lots of chances to meet the many incredible students of Box Hill High who we haven’t met already.

As we all know, last year was a pretty rough year with COVID-19 happening, but this year we’re going to make up for lost time due to lockdown. The Pandemic has definitely had a pretty big impact on some people’s lives, which is why some of the Prefects and I are planning on helping out in the Wellbeing Centre to just be someone people can talk to. We are also planning on helping out on the oval at lunch times.

So far 2021 has been great with things like the Year 12 Valentine’s Day fundraiser and our Year 12 Retreat but also for the whole school with things like the Swimming Carnival. These events were also a great opportunity for our cohort to bond and get closer in our final year. Make sure to be on the lookout for more awesome things coming your way in 2021!
