Junior School Update

Some of our Year 7 class captains with our Year 12 school captains

It has been a busy start to the year for our Junior School students here at Box Hill High School.

Our Year 7s have transitioned very well into secondary school, meeting their new teachers, making friends, developing new routines, and finding their way around our busy school. Returning are our Year 8s and 9s who have come back refreshed, enthusiastic, and ready to have a positive year.

Our vision in Junior School is ‘to support the learning and socio-emotional development of our Year 7, 8 and 9 students so they can thrive’ – we hope to do this by being the support structure in times of difficulty and being a cheerleader in times of success.

Encompassing our vision are our year level themes:

At Year 7 we focus on Positive Relationships as we want to foster a sense of community, build connections, and support the transition of students to secondary school.

In Year 8 we want to foster a sense of Gratitude, encouraging students to be empathetic to what others value and believe.

For Year 9 students we look closely at Resilience – learning strategies to cope with challenges and disappointments that arise and begin to understand that change is a part of living.
