Year Adviser News

Year 8 Year Adviser

Gemma Hanlon

It has been a busy start to 2021 for Year 8. I have received lots of positive feedback from teachers on all the hard work that students have been doing in class thus far.

I would like to congratulate our students who performed at our Harmony Day celebrations. It was a great day and a great way to celebrate the diversity we have in our school.

In week 3, we had our annual swimming carnival which saw Lachlan and Tegan become age champions and also qualify for Zone Swimming.

8L and 8W have been participating in a program every Friday run by the Blacktown Area Community Centre which focuses on a variety of different topics including how to look after their own well-being.  Students in 8S and 8T will be participating in the program next term.

Have a safe and happy holiday and looking forward to seeing everyone next term.

Year 10 Year Adviser

Rhys Murphy

It has been an exciting first term for Year 10 who have really hit the ground running when it comes to their studies.

This year, the cohort have been given a fantastic opportunity to be the first year group in a significant period of time to be able to attend a Year 10 End of Year Camp. This camp will take place in term 4 at YMCA Camp Yarramundi, where students will amongst other things, get the chance to kayak, rock climb, abseil and take on the giant swing. All whilst engaging in team building exercises and eating delicious food. We cant wait!

Parents are reminded that the minimum standards tests are occurring this term and that whilst it is imperative that students try their hardest, it isn't the end of the world if they do not get the desired result as they will have the chance to attempt the test all the way up until Year 12.

Finally, parents are asked to ensure that their child or ward has the appropriate uniform not only for Sport and PE, but also for the cooler months that are rapidly approaching.

Thanks for a great term Year 10, I am very eager to see what we can do in the next.

Year 12 Year Adviser

Stephen Satmaka

As we finish our first term of 2021 and furiously completing assessment tasks, Year 12 has continued to lead the rest of the school by doing.

Whether it was joining in with the sporting events or filming the performances, Year 12 has been showing resilience and initiative to set a good example for the rest of the school. This resilience can be seen in rolling with the changes where they now needing to be at school on a Friday for various workshops that will prepare them this year and life beyond Evans High.

In week 9, our cohort went to the Sydney Zoo to learn about the career options at the local zoo. It was a great day spent looking at animals after a hard week of getting assessments done.

Well done year 12!
