SSV Holt Soccer Lightning Premiership Caulfield Park  2021

Hi Everyone,

On Friday 23rd of April, St Agnes' competed in the SSV Holt Soccer Lightning Premiership against ten other schools in the Holt District at Caulfield Park.  The Boys/Girls team was comprised of 29 St Agnes' students from Years 5 and 6.  Both teams of St Agnes' students competed in round robin competition of shortened games.

The weather was good for soccer, 20 degrees and the showers held off all day, this made it very pleasant for players and spectators alike.  The results were fantastic this year.  St Agnes' girls were amazing all day, winning every one of their games and winning the Final 5-0 against St James, Brighton.  It was very exciting and St Agnes’ best result in soccer ever!  St Agnes boys were up against some very experienced teams this year and didn't quite make it to the semi finals, but the smiles on their faces confirmed that it was a very enjoyable day.

The Girls team will go through to the Beachside Division Winter Team Play-Off on the 21st July, the venue is yet to be confirmed.

I would like to say a big thank you to the teachers/staff and parents who helped out and came to support the students on the day. Most of all I thank the two teams for doing an amazing job representing St Agnes.  Parents, teachers and myself are all very proud of you.

Reflections from our students

Last Friday, the 23 of April most of the Grade 5/6's went to represent our school by doing

SSV Soccer. It was a fun, enjoyable day and we made so many memories. The girls team played 4 games and we won every game. Here were our results. Our first game we played was  Our Lady Of Lourdes and we won 7-0.  Our second game we played was St James which was 2-0. Our third game we played against was Black Rock and the score was 3-0 and our fourth game we played St Marys and the score was 4-0. Winning all four games meant we were going into the Semi-finals. We ended up winning the Semi-finals against St Columbus 4-0. After a short break we started the grand finals. In the grand finals we played St James again and won 6-0. After a long day of hard work, we made it through to the next level and now we are going to be versing other schools throughout the year.

On Friday the 23rd of April, the year 5’s and 6’s went to Caulfield Park and played SSV soccer against five teams. The members of the girls team were Sophia Lyras, Alexia Lyras, Emily Connors, Stella Connors, Paige Tsoukalas, Sophie Forbes, Erica Vella, Lexi Mazur, Anastasia Plousi, Molo Tucker, Patricia Koptidis, Connie Kinnaird and Michaela Killey.

The first game we played was against Our Lady of Lourdes. The score was 7-0. Well done to Sophia for being our goalie and defending so well. Anastasia, Michaela and Connie did a great job in defence and helped get the ball down to the other end. Our goal scorers were Erica with 4 goals and Lexi with 3 goals.

The second game we played was against St James Brighton. The score was 2-0. Once again Sophia was our goalie and defended well. Our midfielders Emily, Stella and Alexia were very fast and controlled the ball very well. Our goal scorers were Paige with 1 goal and Erica with 1 goal.

The third game we played was against St Joseph's Black Rock. The score was 3-0. Again Sophia was our amazing goalie. Our centre midfielders were Molo and Sophie who did an amazing job and worked well together. Our goal scorers were Stella with 1 goal, Alexia with 1 goal and Lexi with 1 goal.

The fourth game we played was against St Columbus. The score was 4-0. Sophia was our goalie in the first half and Paige in the second half. Patricia and Sophie were our centre midfielders and did a great job. Our goal scorers were Alexia with 2 goals, Erica with 1 goal and Connie with 1 goal.

Our team was very excited that we had made it through to the Semi Finals and we would be playing St Columbus. The score was 4-0 and once again Super Sophia worked hard as a goalie.

After a short break we were into the Grand Final and played St James Brighton. St Agnes’ scored the first goal and thanks to the hard work by Sophia as goalie and Anastasia, Michaela and Sophie for being our full defence who helped push the ball forward. It was a real team effort that helped our goal scorers, Alexia with 3 goals, Erica with 1 goal and Lexi with 1 goal. The final score was 5-0.

Everyone was very excited we had won the Grand Final. The team felt tired and exhausted after a full day of running and playing soccer, but were very happy.

Thank you to all the teachers and parents who came and watched. Thank you to Mr Kost, Mr Foott, Miss Casey and Ms Smith for their help and supporting St Agnes’. We look forward to going to the Beach side competition and representing St Agnes’.

Well done girls!
